Solenoidal or RCS “Open Style ID Cast”

  • Only the ID is cast in refractory — the cast can be thicker or trowelled, giving the most robust refractory section available.
  • Hardwood board supports force the winding into alignment without the added cost of support studs.
  • Exposed insulated winding gives a visual means to inspect for shorting or overheating.
  • Reusable covers offered to reduce atmospheric contamination.
  • Alignment pins in the base and bottom board locate the coil to the heating line effortlessly.

Angle or molded frame “Fully Cast”

  • Older but more durable than a solid cast brick design.
  • Entire assembly cast in refractory — heavier and more expensive to repair long term.
  • End plates must be isolated from the aluminum frame; a failure point over time.
  • Coil is suspended while cast, so refractory thickness can fluctuate with vibration during the pour.
  • Reusable pouring forms help save repair cost over the fiber housing design.

Fiber housing “Fully Cast”

  • European OEM-influenced design, very similar to the angle or molded frame coil.
  • Pressed laminate structural boards are typically rated slightly over 300 °F — forging heat burns out the binder.
  • Complete board frames are more expensive to repair when boards must be replaced.
  • We install corner-tapped brass blocks in place of heli-coil anchoring in the frame boards.
  • Structural boards act as the pouring forms for rebuilding.

Channel type “Cast or Plate Lined”

  • Primarily for end heating and upsetting.
  • Used where high volume is required and a solenoidal pigeonhole coil cannot index cycle quickly enough.
  • Heating efficiency averages between the mid-40s and lower 60s.
  • Heated length is fixed with some versatility, typically at the expense of longitudinal uniformity.

Oval type “Fully Cast”

  • Used when planning around space constraints — bar end heating, plates and axle blanks for forming.
  • Limited adjustability of the heated length.
  • Upper ceiling refractory is the weakest point, due to the chimney effect of rising heat.
  • Replaceable high-temperature plates upgrade the roof life; rails and non-water-cooled wear strips can be embedded in the refractory floor for simple pusher indexing.
